Sender Policy Framework, or SPF, is a verification system, that is employed to prevent the so-called e-mail spoofing where an email message is sent from one e-mail, but to look as being sent from another, usually with the objective to scam the recipient for some reason. When SPF protection is activated for a domain name, an exclusive record is created for it in the Domain Name System and all the DNS servers globally get it. The record includes all the e-mail servers that are allowed to send legitimate messages from an e-mail address under the domain. When an e-mail is sent, the first DNS server it encounters checks the SPF record and if the sending server is authorized, the message is forwarded to the targeted receiver. In case, however, the sending server doesn't exist in the SPF record for the given domain, the e-mail message won't be submitted and it'll be discarded. If you use this service, it will prevent third parties from sending spam that seem to have been sent by you.

SPF Protection in Website Hosting

When you host your domains in a website hosting account with us and we manage the emails for them, you are able to enable SPF protection for all of them with several clicks in your Hepsia Control Panel. The service is accessible in a section of its own where you will be able to view which domain names are currently secured. For those that are not, you will be able to enable the SPF protection option and manage a number of things during the process - the hostnames of the mail servers that are allowed to send messages from your e-mails, the IPv4 and IPv6 addresses of the servers, and even to create a rule that messages can be sent only if your domains use our MX records. The last option is the most secure one, and you can use it in the event that we take care of the email addresses for your domain names and do not use a different e-mail supplier. The new records will be activated within 24 hours and nobody will be able to forge the FROM field in a message using your addresses.

SPF Protection in Semi-dedicated Hosting

When you have a semi-dedicated server account with us, you'll be able to secure your email addresses by activating the SPF security service for every domain hosted in the account with just a couple of mouse-clicks. You can do this through the Emails section of our Hepsia Control Panel which is provided with the semi-dedicated accounts and even when you have no previous practical experience with these kinds of matters, you won't have any kind of difficulties to activate the security. All that you'll need to do will be to select a domain name from a drop-down list and after that type the mail server hostname and IPv4 or IPv6 address. As soon as the updated record propagates, messages from your emails will be mailed globally only if they are sent from that server. When your email addresses are managed by our company and not by a third-party supplier, you will also be able to take advantage of an option for e-mail messages to be mailed only when the domain name includes our MX records and the latter is the most secure option. When you have any questions about thisfunction, you will be able to get in touch with our tech support crew 24/7.
